We offer week long summer horse camps for children ages 4-16 for the Truckee Reno Tahoe area. Camp is a great way for children and teens to learn about horses and to learn how to ride or advance their riding skills. We offer quality instruction, well behaved horses, and a fun environment. The summer program is structured so that your child can progress through the summer if you would like to enroll them in more than one camp. All campers must have a parent or guardian sign a release of liability.
Our horse camps emphasize safety and solid horsemanship fundamentals. Each student will work with their own horse for the week whenever possible. We match riders based on size and ability, and your child could riding mini horses, ponies or full size horses. Half day horse camp is open to childgren ages 6 to 14 Campers are divided into smaller groups based on age and ability level. Camp is offered Monday through Friday from 9am -12pm and 1pm-4:30pm, with campers spending 1.5 hours per day in the saddle. The price for one 5 day session is $550 per camper.
New for 2018, we are offering a full day horse camp from 9-3pm for campers age 8 and up. Campers will have about 2.5 hours per day in the saddle with time in the arena and out on the trail. The price for the camp is $800 per camper. We have some exciting new options for our campers that want to learn something special. We will be offering beginner vaulting, jumping and driving clinics. The clinics will be offered from 3-5 Monday thru Thursday.
Pony & critter camps
For the younger ones, we offer a camp that builds skills and comfort handling ponies and other farm animals. While campers will learn to ride the ponies, this camp is focused on hands on learning and adventure for ages 4 to 10. Camp is offered in a morning session from 9am-12pm and the afternoon session from 1pm- 4pm. The price is $450 per camper per session.
cross country camps
Intermediate to advanced camp for kids looking to improve their hunter jumper and cross country skills. This is an all day camp with a minimum of 3 hours of riding instruction per day out on the trails, or in one of our arenas. In addition to riding, kids spend time learning about equine care and doing farm chores such as grooming, cleaning stalls or other work.
Jr. Counselor program
For those kids who are advanced riders and want to take more responsibility, our Jr. Counselor Program is for them. Starting at 9am, the Jr. Counselors help our counselors with the other kids enrolled in camp by instructing, supervising, and helping with chores around the property. Jr. Counselors ride about 3 hours per day in an advanced setting either in a group of other kids or their own private group depending on the day.
Summer Camp Information
What we provide & what you need to bring
We provide the horses (nice perk right?), tack, a light snack (fruit and crackers), water, sunscreen, band-aids and energetic counselors. In addition, we aslo provide helmets, but strongly recommend that you purchase or bring your own.
You need to provide a well adjusted child who has closed toed shoes (riding boots highly recommended), long pants (breaches, jeans, or leggings), snack (for the picky eaters) and a water bottle.
All day campers should pack a lunch.
booking & cancellation
We encourage you to make your summer camp reservations online through our online booking portal. Before March 31, we require payment in full of camp to receive a 10% discount on all camps. You must enter the discount code "earlyreg18" to receive the discount. After March 31, we require a 50% non-refundable deposit to hold your spot for camp at the time of booking. The balance for camp will be charged one week prior to the first day of camp. The camp deposit may be applied to different weeks should your schedule change but it will not be refunded.
Once booked, the deposit is non-refundable. All cancellations made at least one week before the start of camp will not be charged the balance. For any cancellations made within a week of the camp start date, or after the camp has started, will be charged the full amount and no refund will be provided.
Inherent risk of equine ACTIVITIES & release of liability
By enrolling your child in our summer camps, you understand that there are certain risks related to equine activities that cannot always be avoided. While safety is a priority in all of our programs, accidents do happen.

Some weeks, we have last minute cancelations or only one spot available. In these instances, we can offer flexible pricing on camp for last minute sign ups. These spots are first come, first serve and only open the Saturday before camp starts. We cannot make any guarantees.
