Summer Camps

We offer week long summer horse camps for children ages 4-16 for the Truckee Reno Tahoe area. Camp is a great way for children and teens to learn about horses and to learn how to ride or advance their riding skills.  We offer quality instruction, well behaved horses, and a fun environment. The summer program is structured so that your child can progress through the summer if you would like to enroll them in more than one camp. All campers must have a parent or guardian sign a release of liabilty. Hard copies will be available at camp check in.

 Horse camps

Our horse camps emphasize safety and solid horsemanship fundamentals. We match riders based on size and ability, and your child could riding mini horses, ponies or full size horses. Half day horse camp is open to children ages 7 to 14 Campers are divided into smaller groups based on age and ability level. Camp is offered Monday through Friday.

Half Day Camp is from 9-12 with campers spending 1.5 hours per day in the saddle. The price for one 5 day session is $550 per camper. On Thursdays, campers may add on an afternoon trail ride and to stay till 3. Please check this add on if you would like to participate.

All Day Horse Camp from 9-3pm for campers age 8 and up.  Campers will have about 2.5 hours per day in the saddle with time in the arena and out on the trail. The price for the camp is $850 per camper. 

An extended day option for campers who would like to stay late to help with chores and fees may stay till 5. Please check this add on if you would like to participate.

For intermediate and advanced riders, we offer additional jumping lessons from 3-5 Monday thru Thursday. Please check this add on if you would like to participate.

Pony & critter camps

For the younger ones, we offer a camp that builds skills and comfort handling ponies and other farm animals.   While campers will learn to ride the ponies, this camp is focused on hands on learning and adventure for ages 4 to 10. Camp is offered in a morning session from 9am-12pm. The price is $475 per camper per session.  On Thursdays, campers may add on an afternoon trail ride and to stay till 3. Jr. Counselor program

For those kids who are advanced riders and want to take more responsibility, our Jr. Counselor Program is for them. Jr. Counselors help our counselors with the other kids enrolled in camp by instructing, supervising, and helping with chores around the property. Jr. Counselors ride about 3 hours per day in an advanced setting either in a group of other kids or their own private group depending on the day. Jr. Counselors must be 14 and pre-approved by PREC to participate. Jr. Counselors should be at PREC from 8:30-4:30.

 

Summer Camp Information

What we provide & what you need to bring

We provide the horses (nice perk right?), tack, a light snack (fruit and crackers), water, sunscreen, band-aids and energetic counselors. In addition, we aslo provide helmets, but strongly recommend that you purchase or bring your own. 

You need to provide a well adjusted child who has closed toed shoes (riding boots highly recommended), long pants (breaches, jeans, or leggings), snack (for the picky eaters) and a water bottle. 

All day campers should pack a lunch. 

booking & cancellation

Last summer, we were extremely busy with many of our weeks filling before June. If you want a specific week, we encourage you to book early. Please make your summer camp reservations online through our online booking portal. Before March 31, we require payment in full of camp to receive a 5% discount on all camps. You must enter the discount code "earlyreg19" to receive the discount. After March 31, we require a 50% non-refundable deposit to hold your spot for camp at the time of booking. The balance for camp will be charged one week prior to the first day of camp. The camp deposit may be applied to a different week (based on availability) if you give us a full week notice. Deposits will not be refunded.

If you would like to book multiple weeks, we will offer an additional 5% percent discount. Camps must be booked before June 1st using the discount code "multipleweek" to receive the discount.

Once booked, the deposit is non-refundable. All cancellations made at least one week before the start of camp will not be charged the balance. For any cancellations made within a week of the camp start date, or after the camp has started, camp will be charged the full amount and no refund will be provided.

Inherent risk of equine ACTIVITIES & release of liability

 By enrolling your child in our summer camps, you understand that there are certain risks related to equine activities that cannot always be avoided. While safety is a priority in all of our programs, accidents do happen. We strongly recommend that you child has equine approved riding gear and their own helmet to help mitigate some of these risks.

Subject to availability:

Some weeks, we have last minute cancelations or only one spot available. In these instances, we can offer flexible pricing on camp for last minute sign ups. These spots are first come, first serve and only open the Saturday before camp starts.
